Japanese emoticons

18 June 2008

Japanese emoticons (also called anime emoticons) look more kawaii than Western emoticons, don’t you think?

Compare this (^_^) to this :). The regular smiley looked rather plain compared to its Japanese counterpart. Is it because Japanese emoticons put emphasis on the eyes, or maybe because it requires more keystrokes which means more effort is used? Well, whatever it is, these emoticons are really fun!

Ali and I were exchanging messages a while ago. Read below.

Xine: (õ_ó)

Ali: What’s that?

A good read

9 January 2008

I think this is just too darn good to pass up.

Asshole Driven development (ADD) - Any team where the biggest jerk makes all the big decisions is asshole driven development. All wisdom, logic or process goes out the window when Mr. Asshole is in the room, doing whatever idiotic, selfish thing he thinks is best. There may rules and processes, but Mr. A breaks them and people follow anyway.

Scott Berkun is an author, public speaker and consultant. He wrote interesting essays like How to run a brainstorming meeting, How to detect bullshit and a lot more. Most of them are widely discussed all over the Web.

Shiny, plastic people

I just can’t understand them. And I certainly don’t want to make friends with them, thank you very much.

Wit that bites

13 June 2007

Humor is a great stress reliever. I’m especially fond of satires. Dilbert comics are pretty funny. Have a good laugh. It’s good for you.

Beat Monday blues

3 June 2007

Normally, I would bitch about my Monday blues. I’m really not crazy about the idea of facing another work week. But then I reminded myself that I should choose to be happy about it. I think about the positive things and pray that tomorrow will be a great day. (more…)

Where’s the rent???

22 May 2007

Ali already posted this in the Mobster Network but I think it was really funny that it deserves another look. It’s a Will Ferrell video, some contents are NSFW so turn that volume down a wee bit. Lol. I can’t wait to watch Blades of Glory, I bet it’s really hilarious.

Anyway, here’s the link to the video. Whenever Ali and I will have a little misunderstanding, with a tiny voice I’ll just shriek, “Where’s the rent?” and we’ll both burst out laughing.

Happy Mothers’ Day!

12 May 2007

Tomorrow is Mothers’ Day. Happy Mothers’ Day to all the moms out there.

My mom reads my blog. She even tell her friends about it. Pretty cool, huh? She sometimes has a quick temper, but she’s quickly forgives us too. If moms are not around, the world will be in chaos.

Thank you Mom for taking care of us. Even though sometimes we disappoint you or cause you pain, always remember that we are forever grateful to you. We love you Mom!

Funny gym incident

10 May 2007

This morning, I felt like going to the gym so I did. After a few minutes err, seconds of stretching, I decided to hop on the treadmill. I noticed that the machine has some customized settings left by the previous user. As I was resetting it, an old man suddenly pressed the start button, my machine’s start button! I don’t know what got over him, maybe he thought I was a moron fidgeting with the keys and all that he felt the need to press start. He was gone nearly as fast as you could say “walk away” just like the Iron Chefs do when they hear the buzzer! I was left there on the treadmill struggling to keep pace with the fast speed. Good thing I didn’t fell off of it and I managed to quickly press stop. That old man must have thought I’m some wasted kid since I was half awake when I first got there. I was trying to suppress my laughter after that.

Planetarium Theme from Hana Yori Dango

27 April 2007

Yep, I’m actually not ashamed to admit it, we’ve been intently watching Hana Yori Dango the past few days. It’s really fun to watch. You should see Ali’s post about this too. Ali sent me a copy of Planetarium by Ai Otsuka. It’s the theme song from Hana Yori Dango and my current ringtone for him. I guess I’ll just ask him to post it here and maybe over at ArtiKulet too so you kids can listen to it. I just love its melody. It sounds really melancholic yet hopeful.

Ali being a really sweet chibi (*lol*) that he is, posted another song that I like at ArtiKulet. Surprisingly, it also has the word planet in the title. It’s actually from the anime series Law of Ueki, Kokoro no Wakusei ~Little Planets~.
