Toycon 2008

16 June 2008

toycon-08.jpgYesterday was Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day, Daddy! We love you!

It was also the 2nd (last) day of the 7th Philippine Toy Convention at the Megatrade Halls 2 & 3 in SM Megamall. Ali and I were supposed to attend on the first day of the toycon but I have to be in Batangas to celebrate Father’s day advance dinner party. So we went there yesterday instead. The place was packed! It was really difficult to get through, there weren’t that many toys but there were a lot of people excitedly roaming around (including us). I think there were even celebrities at the event. Ali even bought me a hat (see picture). I can’t even decide which hat to choose but Ali suggested that I choose the happy looking one. Lol. We also got a Bionicle from Lego which was on sale and also an odd-looking girl capsule toy.

It’s fun to attend events like this. It’s just nice to see happy people everywhere you look. A wonderful change from the everyday office atmosphere. Lol.

Photo: We found kawaii cosplayers (not sure if they are twins) and Ali told me to have my picture taken with them. Most decent photo in the batch. Lol.

L Change the World

6 February 2008

This is part of the L movie poster:

L Change the World

And this is me with L:

L and me

Haha! This picture was actually taken last year at the Hataw Hanep Hero 2007 at SMEX. That guy really looks like L, a bit thinner but still looks and acts like L. Pretty cool, huh? Anyway, the L movie (the spinoff/prequel of live-action DN 1 and 2) which I mentioned months ago, has now the official title of L Change the World. It will hit Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan cinemas this Saturday, February 9. How I wish movies like this will also be shown here. I guess I just have to wait for the DVD release.

How to Be Kawaii

28 September 2007

I just came across this wikiHow while browsing for some kawaii Harajuku stuff. I’m not exactly doing this and I think I’m too old for it (though sometimes I wonder if I can pull it off) but I <3 everything kawaii and I think it's just kawaii posting this here. Lol.

How to Be Kawaii

  1. Keep up with the latest trends by doing some research on the Internet. Columns like Tokyopop’s Kawaii Culture provide information on the latest kawaii trends.
  2. Do not be afraid to stand out and be noticed. You will get some weird looks from other people.
  3. Layer well - this is important. Also, wacky patterns are super. Wear as many colors together as you want and don’t care if your clothes clash.

Prequel to Death Note films

26 September 2007

Though I haven’t read the manga, I’ve seen both Death Note films and I enjoyed watching them. L is my favorite. He’s mental. Lol. He’s really cool, smart, weird and wears a lot of eye make-up! (Kinda like Ali, except for the eye make-up part.) I’m really happy to know about the upcoming prequel to the Death Note films will focus on L. The film’s working title is actually L and it is scheduled to open on February 9, 2008. Here’s the official website of the movie.

A happy weekend indeed!

17 June 2007

Saturday:

Waking up early on a Saturday isn’t really ideal for me but yesterday I got up before 7am, earlier than my usual weekday routine. Ali and I went to Salcedo Saturday market. It was our first time to go there and the timing was perfect. It was Salcedo market’s 3rd anniversary, the atmosphere was festive and the weather seemed to cooperate since it wasn’t too hot. (more…)

Planetarium Theme from Hana Yori Dango

27 April 2007

Yep, I’m actually not ashamed to admit it, we’ve been intently watching Hana Yori Dango the past few days. It’s really fun to watch. You should see Ali’s post about this too. Ali sent me a copy of Planetarium by Ai Otsuka. It’s the theme song from Hana Yori Dango and my current ringtone for him. I guess I’ll just ask him to post it here and maybe over at ArtiKulet too so you kids can listen to it. I just love its melody. It sounds really melancholic yet hopeful.

Ali being a really sweet chibi (*lol*) that he is, posted another song that I like at ArtiKulet. Surprisingly, it also has the word planet in the title. It’s actually from the anime series Law of Ueki, Kokoro no Wakusei ~Little Planets~.

Flip books - I like!

19 April 2007

I enjoy reading watching flip books, you know, those series of pictures creating frame by frame animation.

Check out this Robot Fight flip book from Psalty. He’s got a bunch of other cool flip books he created over at YouTube. I wish I could create my own killer flip book too. *lol*

Ozine Fest ‘07 yesterday at SM Megamall

2 April 2007

Yesterday’s Ozine Fest was a little disappointing but it was still fun. Ali arrived at Megamall around 9:10 a.m. I got there about 20 minutes later. The place was already packed with people anticipating the event. There were cosplayers, manga fanatics, every otaku that you can think of and then there’s us. I think we can be classified as anime appreciators, not so much of a fanatic because there are a lot of other things about anime that we don’t know about. We like anime because we love the art. And sometimes the storyline is quite good too.

Around 9:40, the mall is still closed. We went to a nearby fast food restaurant to eat breakfast. We hurriedly eat our meals so that at 10 a.m. when the entrance to the mall opens, we’ll run. Why are we such in a hurry? Well, freebies and anime loot bags await the early birds. Not sure how many are at stake but we’re willing to take our chances. (more…)
