Xine’s back, she’s now a Mrs.

20 November 2008

Ali & XinePardon me for a looong hiatus because I just got married but I’m finally back. You heard me right, after months of preparation, Ali and I tied the knot last November 8, 2008. It was a super super fun event, everybody had a great time. The wedding ceremony was held at the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Makati. It was a solemn and heartfelt celebration. Family and friends cried with me while I walked down the aisle.

Actually the feeling of being married is almost indescribable at first. I was really giddy, a bit terrified that my clumsiness will ruin my wedding, that I might trip or knock down the flower pots and stuff. I was also worried that my uncontrollable tears will make me look like Joker with all the bad make-up. Days before the wedding were really stressful. Ali and I even had fights. I feel stressed, harassed and overwhelmed with various emotions. Good thing my family is there to give support and encouragement, my parents and my brother were there with me since Day 1 of the preparations. Ali, on the other hand is a hands-on groom too. He went with me to seminars, bridal fairs, supplier meetings, venue and shoe hunting and yes even to gown fittings, he was there, (he was just not allowed to see me in my gown, though).

I guess I was quite caught up with the wedding preparations because I’m not worried about the marriage part, well maybe a bit. But because I know Ali is tough enough to endure headaches and body pains, our marriage will survive. Lol. Kidding aside, Ali and I are confident to take this plunge because we know we are getting married for all the right reasons. If my memory serves me right, Ali first brought about the idea of marrying me on our second day of officially being a couple. Yeah, that quick. But of course, at that time, those were just words. Then words turn into actions, then came November 8, a beautiful celebration of love and friendship.

We chose The Conservatory of The Peninsula Manila to be our wedding reception venue. The food, the flowers, the lights, the mood, the music, everything was lovely to us. We’re doubly glad that the guests thought so too. We’re so happy that our hard work and all the stress for this event paid off. Everywhere I look, people are smiling, laughing and having a great time. Event coordination was done by Getting Married Philippines and we’re so happy that we made the right decision in choosing them. Everything went on smoothly and guests were impressed.

Thank you my dear family and friends who celebrated with us on our wedding day. We hope you enjoyed as much as we did. I’ll post some pictures soon. Oh, and a couple of my friends blogged about my wedding. Thanks Jude and Russ. I’ll post the list of my suppliers next time for my friends who are planning to get married soon. Here’s an unsolicited advice for couples out there, no matter what happens to your wedding, it will still be successful because at the end of the day, you are united with your chosen partner with God as witness. This may be a cliché or probably even corny to some, but I suggest you just let go and let God. :)
