ProcrasTINEnator

3 April 2008

If I hadn’t named this blog idioXINEcrasies, procrasTINEnation could have been a suitable alternative. Because yeah, I admit, I’m a procrastinator. Not on the job because I always meet deadlines (YOWN! and I guess a lot of people from work can vouch for that). It’s more on the personal level like I have a couple of half-read books lying around, I have about a dozen unfinished drafts for this blog, I’m stuck with less than a handful of Nihongo phrases (a language which I really wanted to learn for so long), I always have an excuse to skip gym etc, etc. They may be little things to other people but they are considerably important to me.

I’m not really that spontaneous but I’m not organized as well. I’m probably in the middle which is why there may be things that I may have passed up, both wittingly and unwittingly. Things which could have sealed the deal for me. Well, deep sighs may not help but I guess taking it one step at a time will do the trick. Things may appear overwhelming at first but I just have to keep a healthy attitude to achieve my goals. I guess everybody, in one way or another is, or has been a procrastinator, so I won’t be too hard on myself, but I do have to set a deadline and avoid distractions.

Ditch the maƱana habit. Finding inspiration even in the most boring work you’ll ever do will help you get rid of procrastination. And that’s what I’m going to do.

For now, I’m going to sleep, I’ll just leave you with Sandwich’s song, Procrastinator.

On giving something back

6 December 2007

“Why are you doing this?” I remember Fr. Ting Miciano asking us that question when went to Don Bosco Pugad last Sunday to give the gifts and donation to the kids there. I just smiled and told him that I just want to do something nice for the kids. I guess I just thought of giving something back to others as a way of being thankful for all the blessings that I receive everyday.

Fr. Ting is the Center Director for Pugad. He introduced us to the kids and they looked very excited. Their eyes lit up as they receive their gifts. It was really a good experience, a very nice feeling to make somebody happy. I’m not writing this to show off our good deed. I’m not sharing this with you to show you how good a person I am. I’m telling you this to encourage you to try it sometime. A little nice gesture to someone who needs your help will go a long way. It doesn’t need to be a financial or material help. It can be a prayer or even a small compliment. (more…)

Don Bosco Pugad

17 November 2007

Remember my Birthday Wishlist post? People have been asking me about it and I’m really happy that they are interested to support me with this project. As I’ve mentioned before, Don Bosco Pugad will be the recipient of whatever amount I’ll be able to gather. I chose Don Bosco because I used to participate in their outreach programs and I believe in their mission to help street children by taking them to a more suitable environment and educating them. You may learn more about their programs by visiting their website.

If you want to make a donation through this site, you may click on the Make A Donation button on your left and you may also leave a message if you want to. I’ll make sure it reaches the foundation and I’ll also send you receipts from Don Bosco. You may also give cash or check donations, either through me or deposit it directly to Don Bosco Pugad bank accounts.

PESO Account:
Bank: Bank of Commerce-Pasay Road Branch, Makati City
Current Account No. 046-00-0000237-2
Account Name: Don Bosco Pugad: Home for Street Children & Migrant Youth

DOLLAR Account
Bank: BPI Family Bank - Pasay Road Branch, Makati City
Dollar Account No. 6744-0073-03
Account Name: Don Bosco Pugad: Home for Street Children & Migrant Youth

Always make your checks payable to Don Bosco Pugad. Fax to them the deposit slip so they can issue you a receipt.

Again, thank you for your support. I went to Don Bosco this afternoon and a lady there called me an angel. I’m really no angel but it sure feels good when you share your blessings and help others in any way you can.

Oh noes, it’s Monday!

4 November 2007

Yeah, after a long weekend, tomorrow’s Monday again. But I dunno, I’m actually looking forward to going to office tomorrow. Not looking forward to work but to put my new cute capsule toy on my desk. Remember my messy desk? Well, I added a couple of things to it and maybe put in a few more soon. There were kids in our office Halloween party and they just love the stuff on my desk. Monday is my least favorite day of the week. But since it’s my birth month (yay!) I want to start my week right and maybe come to the office in time everyday for the whole month. (more…)

October 19 - A birthday and a blast

19 October 2007

Today is my grandfather’s birthday. Happy birthday Tatay! We wish you better health.

But today is also a day of tragedy here in Makati. There was an explosion in one of the malls that killed at least 8 people and injured more than a hundred. I know that tragedy and disasters happen everyday in different places but this one hits hard because my family and loved ones could have been the victims since we live near and frequent the area. My mom was even there last night to get last minute gift items for a friend.

Understanding breast cancer

8 October 2007

As part of my contribution to the Breast Cancer Awareness month, here are information to help you to be more aware of this disease. Personally, I don’t know much about breast cancer and this is also a good way for me to learn about it. Let’s start with the basics.

According to breastcancer.org, breast cancer is an uncontrolled growth of breast cells. (more…)

IdioXINEcrasies.com goes Pink for October

4 October 2007

Last year, Matthew Oliphant started Pink for October and roughly 1,500 websites went pink (during the month of October) to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, get people talking about breast cancer, and raise money for research.

It’s actually my first time to participate in this project. To show your support too, please visit the P4O site for more details.

Ball of fire

3 October 2007

I wonder if I’m going to get a raise if my boss sees me slacking. Lol.

A businessman told me he was going to fire a certain employee because the man was slow, dull and sleepy. “Instead of firing him out of the business, why not fire him into the business?” I asked. “You mean build a fire under him?” he demanded. “No,” I said, build a fire in him. Get him excited. Get him motivated.” The employer did just that and now he reports of the same employee, “The man is a ball of fire.” - Norman Vincent Peale

Enjoy the rest of the week everybody.
