Casulo: Your bedroom in a box

13 February 2008

Quite difficult to picture that this box is your bedroom, huh?

Casulo

But in less than 10 minutes, you can actually set it up into an entire bedroom complete with an armoire, a desk (surface 80 by 160 cm), a height-adjustable desk chair, two stools, a tall set of shelves, a bed (200 by 80 cm) and a mattress. Now isn’t that pretty clever?

Casulo: Your bedroom in a box

The CASULO is for people on the move, those in job training, students, and people who have to change their location frequently. The unit is ideal for people in the service industries. People who must move frequently and rent empty rooms need no longer accumulate sets of inexpensive furnishings whose transportation costs are higher than the value of the furniture.

A collaborative project of the two designers Marcel Krings und Sebastian Mühlhäuser, Casulo won the Abraham & David Roentgen Prize for its innovative design in November 2007.

I bet you want to see how this box transforms into a bedroom so click the play button already!

I hope Casulo would come up with a kitchen in a box too. Shiny, shiny! I can prepare and cook gourmet meals anytime, anywhere. Lol.

Taste Asia Blogger Food Fest

7 July 2007

SM Hypermarket was generous enough to sponsor an event for bloggers last July 3. It was a fun night. I was a bit shy and I wasn’t able to introduce myself to a lot of people but I did get to meet really friendly bloggers there. I also met Aileen Apolo, the organizer of the bloggers’ meet-up. She was really nice, Ali and I signed up for the event through her blog.

Hopefully next time we’ll be able to meet more people. I wasn’t able to post about this event before because I’m really tied up with my current project. Good thing we didn’t forget to attend because it was a good break from work. Ali and I weren’t able to prepare our blogger cards though. Oh, the picture below was from Cliquebooth.

Design inspiration

26 June 2007

Today was one of those days when I can’t seem to create a design no matter how hard I try. I was tasked to do a website prototype for a new client. I got a few useful pictures yesterday and I’ve read articles about the business (it’s an Italian restaurant). Still, I’m not sure about what to do with it. We don’t really communicate with our clients personally, the marketing people do that. We just rely on their description of the client’s requirements and then we create a prototype. Most of the time, it wasn’t really enough so I’ll just do my thing and if luck would have it, the client will approve the design immediately. (I’m really lucky if it reaches the client untouched. Very. Rare. Occasion.)

It was already around 5pm when I finished MY design. I think reading something from a book by Norman Vincent Peale helped me get some inspiration.

Positive thinking is how you think about a problem. Enthusiasm is how you feel about a problem. The two together determine what you do about a problem.

Link lovin’ with John Chow’s Review My Blog

28 May 2007

I saw John Chow dot com in the top 50 communities in MyBlogLog. I wasn’t sure who he was but a lot of people joined his community so I decided to check it out. His website has a lot of interesting and helpful articles that can help you make money online. And he is generous enough to offer you a link back if you review his blog. Currently, he has already posted 75 batches of 10 reviews, so that’s a whole lotta link love to John. Pretty clever, huh? But along with the link back that he will give you, he’ll also give you the option to choose which keywords or phrase you want to anchor your website. Oh and his website has a PR of 6 so a link from him is quite valuable. (more…)

21 May 2007

I enjoy singing, though I’m not really good at it, I recently joined this online singing community over at SingShot.com. It’s where you can access a lot of songs and record your own versions. Kinda like having your own recording studio. At SingShot you can organize your recordings, communicate with other members and have a list of your favorites. You can even join contests. (more…)

Adobe Creative Suite 3

7 May 2007

Creativity that flows, ideas that fly, energy that jumps from print to web, to video to mobile and beyond — in one continuous motion

That’s what Adobe’s third installment of Creative Suite is prepared to do. I must say that Adobe did a pretty neat job with it. Last Friday, we attended the official product launch of Adobe CS3 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City. The Adobe team had a nice presentation to showcase the new features of Creative Suite 3. They say this is the most comprehensive set of creative tools of Adobe. Offered in six editions for print, web, video and mobile design, you now have more choices to explore your creative side. All about color: Adobe Kuler and ColorPic

4 April 2007

Here’s a quick post about Adobe Kuler and ColorPic. I just find these tools useful so I’m sharing this with you just in case you’re not using them yet.

Adobe Kuler from Adobe Labs is a free web-based application wherein you can create, save and share color schemes. Built in Flash, it complements the Adobe Creative Suite and it is somewhat a social networking site too. You can add tags to your schemes and even rate others. Signing up makes you a part of the Kuler community and there’s also kuler talk, an online discussion forum. (more…)

weapon of choice? Adobe Premiere Pro 2

4 March 2007

It’s been almost two weeks since my last post. I know I should have squeezed in some time to write something but everything always turns up. But being busy is better than being idle. At least I’m learning something new for each project that I’m being assigned to.

Last week, I was asked to be the editor of the video presentation that we had for our quarterly office gathering. Its aim is to cascade the organization’s values in a fun and entertaining fashion. Our group decided to create a spoof of a popular news program. (more…)
