Desserts… think fast!

28 December 2007

This year, I’ve satisfied my sweet tooth more than I used to, which quite explains the fluctuating weight (darnit!). Though sometimes I feel guilty just thinking of eating those desserts, there’s this rather sublime happiness while indulging on that (mostly) bittersweet goodness. It somewhat reminds me how good life is. Ah, it definitely compensates for the guilt. The first 5 desserts that come to mind are:

Sakae Sushi Coffee Jelly. I just love that strong cold coffee and those yummy bits of gelatin. I even love the whipped cream even though dairy’s not really friendly to my stomach. I really enjoy Sakae Sushi’s take on this one.

Amici’s Nocciola gelato. Though sometimes I have allergic reaction to nuts, eating Nocciola or Hazelnut gelato from Amici doesn’t seem to bother me. Its creamy goodness combined with sharp Hazelnut flavor, this gelato quickly became a favorite.

Hoshiko CupcakesPiece of Cake - Cupcakes by Yumi Castrillo. I just love Yumi’s cupcakes. You will enjoy her cupcakes even without the frosting because of its nice flavors. But I like mine with swirled icing, Baileys butter cream is sooo good. I had cupcakes on my birthday and they came with cute toppers too! You should try it. Yumi even came up with clever names for her pretty and delish cakes. You may download her brochure here.

Pastry Box - Double Chocolate Cookies by Elaine Arevalo - My very good friend Elaine bakes the best cookies. They’re somewhat crunchy on the side and chewy in the middle. We ordered a few boxes and gave them away as Christmas gifts. We all love it! To order, call or send an sms to +63.927.847.5567, she bakes other pastries too.

UCC’s Banana Chocolate Smoothie. I guess this is an all-time favorite so it’s always a part of my list.

I can think of other desserts but these were the ones that registered the quickest. How about you? What’s on your list?

Kerplunk! Something’s amiss… but who cares!

21 December 2007

Tonight is Kerplunk! night at saGuijo! It has been a really exhausting week for Ali and me (quite hellish, even!) and going to saGuijo will definitely lift my mood. I’ll stop thinking about that glitch in the system for now. Happy weekend everybody!

Quote for the moment:
I’m saving my evil genius plans for later, so I’ll skip the sinister MUWAHAHAHA laugh that goes with it.

Hey wait! This one’s a classic:
I’m caught up in a dilemma. Should I cry or should I just walk out? *sheesh*

Shiny, plastic people

I just can’t understand them. And I certainly don’t want to make friends with them, thank you very much.

On giving something back

6 December 2007

“Why are you doing this?” I remember Fr. Ting Miciano asking us that question when went to Don Bosco Pugad last Sunday to give the gifts and donation to the kids there. I just smiled and told him that I just want to do something nice for the kids. I guess I just thought of giving something back to others as a way of being thankful for all the blessings that I receive everyday.

Fr. Ting is the Center Director for Pugad. He introduced us to the kids and they looked very excited. Their eyes lit up as they receive their gifts. It was really a good experience, a very nice feeling to make somebody happy. I’m not writing this to show off our good deed. I’m not sharing this with you to show you how good a person I am. I’m telling you this to encourage you to try it sometime. A little nice gesture to someone who needs your help will go a long way. It doesn’t need to be a financial or material help. It can be a prayer or even a small compliment. (more…)
