Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th is probably the most widespread superstition. For a lot of people, 13 is an unlucky number. Some say 13 is the devil’s dozen. If your name has 13 letters (Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Theodore Bundy), you have the devil’s luck. As for Friday, it has long been regarded as a day of misfortune since the crucifixion of Christ happened on a Friday and the execution of criminals (hangman’s day) are scheduled on this day too. I didn’t know that there’s even a Friday the 13th phobia until I stumbled upon the term paraskavedekatriaphobia. I guess there’s a lot more people who fear this day than I thought.
I’m not as superstitious as most people and I don’t really consider 13 as an unlucky number. And I love Friday since it’s the last day in a work week. I’m especially happy today because I’m almost done with my project and it turned out pretty good. Thanks to Ali, of course, he’s been helping me with a bunch of stuff and has been very patient with me.
I try to be positive everyday and my mom always reminds me to be conscious of my attitude. Here’s a thought for today, July 13 from Norman Vincent Peale:
If a person habitually thinks optimistically and hopefully, he activates life upon him positively and thereby attracts to himself positive results. What you mentally project reproduces in kind. Positive thinking sets in motion positive and creative forces and success flows toward you.
